As part of a major facility redesign at Toyota Center, the Houston Rockets modernized access to the media, control, and production systems that support live event operations. Working with system integrator CTI and powered by G&D KVM technology, the new environment delivers fast, reliable, low-latency access to critical resources across a demanding venue that hosts NBA games, concerts, esports competitions, and other live events.

With systems and workstations redistributed throughout the venue, the Houston Rockets needed to ensure that critical media and control resources remained immediately accessible from wherever they were needed. In a live production environment, delays, complexity, or inconsistent performance were not an option.
The organization required a KVM system that could provide the responsiveness of a direct connection while supporting a more flexible and modern infrastructure. High reliability, premium image quality, and low latency were essential to ensure a consistent user experience for operators working across multiple production and engineering functions.
The project was also part of a broader technology modernization at Toyota Center. According to CTI, the venue’s legacy analog infrastructure limited flexibility and made evolving media workflows more difficult to manage efficiently.
The Houston Rockets’ technical team was already familiar with KVM matrix architectures and approached the project with a clear understanding of the type of solution required. Their interest in G&D was reinforced through conversations with peers at other NBA organizations, as well as a thorough evaluation of multiple vendor solutions.
G&D stood out for both product performance and the responsiveness of its team throughout the evaluation process.
The solution was built around two interconnected two ControlCenter-Compact matrix switches, creating a centralized yet highly flexible KVM environment. Media servers and control systems were integrated centrally, while operator workstations in the Control Room and Engineering areas were given fast, reliable access to the resources they needed. The architecture supports both single-head and dual-head workflows and delivers the ultra low-latency performance required for live operations.
Installation and commissioning proceeded smoothly, with G&D supporting CTI on detailed KVM configuration and final system optimization

Today, the Houston Rockets have a modern KVM environment that gives teams access to media and control resources exactly where they are needed.
The system enables fast switching, dependable performance, and high signal quality across day-to-day operations.
