With DVI, two questions lead to the right range: how many computers come to the workplace, and whether you want to monitor the device over the network. What sets these switches apart applies to both product families: they handle dual link DVI and VGA signals in mixed operation, at inputs and outputs. The DVI switches are the choice for workplaces where computers of different ages come together. Within the category, the product families differ in the number of computers and in monitoring capability; video processing is the same across all of them.
All models handle dual link DVI and VGA — mixed, at inputs and outputs. A computer with a VGA output and one with a DVI output can share the same switch, and on the monitor side you are not tied to one signal type either. Converters or separate workplaces become unnecessary.
The DCS variant (Dry Contacts Switching) switches via dry contacts. This allows switchover to be triggered from a higher-level control system — plant or building control, for instance — without any action at the workplace. Within the switch portfolio, this switching method is available in the DVI range only.
The multi-channel variants switch two, three or four monitors per computer together. This is available in both ranges.
DVI carries no audio within the video signal, so the switches route sound over a separate analogue channel. Embedded audio is not available with DVI — if sound is to travel digitally within the video signal, the DisplayPort switches are the way to go.
