Freeze-Function – holding the image when the signal is lost

When a console module loses the video signal — because the connection drops or the computer's graphics card fails — the monitor would normally go black. The Freeze-Function, also referred to as screen freeze, keeps the last image received on screen instead.

How it works

With freeze mode enabled, the last valid image remains on screen. The state is marked by a coloured, semi-transparent border and a timer showing how much time has passed since the signal was lost. Operators can therefore see both that the image is no longer current and how long the outage has lasted.

As soon as an active video signal is present again, the mode is cleared automatically.

What it is for

In control rooms with many monitors, a black screen is noticeable but carries no information. A frozen image preserves the last known state of the process, while the marking prevents it from being mistaken for a live view. During brief dropouts, the image stays steady instead of flickering.

Configuration

Freeze mode can be set system-wide or per console module in the matrix system.
