And KVM feels right

DisplayPort

Up to four computers with 5K video – models for security applications, with instant switching, or for standard use.

With DisplayPort, two questions lead to the right range: which DisplayPort version your computers output — that sets the achievable resolution — and whether you need network-based monitoring or seamless real-time switching. Together they produce the three categories below. What that means for the number of computers, the monitors and the choice between product families is covered under "DisplayPort in detail".

DisplayPort in detail

Within the DisplayPort switches, the product families differ in three respects: DisplayPort version, number of computers and additional functions. The video transmission itself is the same across all of them.

DisplayPort 1.4 or 1.2?

The version determines the achievable resolution — the figures are listed in the categories above and in each model's technical data.

More important is how the version is tied to the functions: DisplayPort 1.4 is available in the ranges for two or four computers, with or without a network port. DisplayPort 1.2 appears only in the ATC model — the only one with InstantSwitching. Anyone who needs seamless switching is therefore also choosing DisplayPort 1.2 and three computers.

The three product families compared
  • DP1.4-MUX — two or four computers, DisplayPort 1.4. The base equipment for workplaces without particular monitoring requirements.
  • MUX-NT — two or four computers, DisplayPort 1.4, plus a network port with web interface and monitoring, and redundant power.
  • DP1.2-MUX3-ATC — three computers, DisplayPort 1.2, InstantSwitching, network port and redundant power. Developed for air traffic control.
Computers and monitors with DisplayPort

The DisplayPort models serve two, three or four computers, depending on the range. More computers on one switch are not provided for with DisplayPort; for eight computers there are keyboard/mouse switches, where the monitors stay connected directly to the computers.

Per computer, the multi-channel variants switch up to four monitors together. This is available across all three ranges.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions
  • I need InstantSwitching and 5K. Is that possible?
No. InstantSwitching is offered only by the ATC model, which works with DisplayPort 1.2. The higher resolutions are found in the DP1.4 ranges, which do not offer InstantSwitching.
  • Can I connect more than four computers?
Not with DisplayPort. For eight computers, the keyboard/mouse switches are the option; there, video signals do not run through the switch.
  • Which range do I need for monitoring?
The NT variants and the ATC model. The DP1.4-MUX range has no network port.
