The name combines blue – a reference to our corporate color – with codec. Behind it sits a method that reduces data volume in several stages without discarding image information. What the computer outputs appears at the workplace pixel for pixel identically.
bluedec works across frames: instead of treating each image in isolation, it compares consecutive frames and transmits only those areas that have actually changed. This lowers the required bandwidth considerably – high-resolution video streams run across standard network infrastructure rather than over dedicated high-bandwidth links.
In control rooms, every pixel counts. Compression artifacts could distort readings, labels or radar tracks – in air traffic control or process control, that is not an option. Pixel-perfect transmission guarantees that the workplace shows exactly what the remote computer outputs. Together with the low latency, hand-eye coordination is preserved: keyboard and mouse respond as though the computer were sitting under the desk.
Because every bluedec™ system uses the same compression method, devices can be combined freely – across device generations and across different video signals (mix & match). Computer and console modules are matrix-compatible and remain so when an installation is extended or modernised years later. Existing components work alongside new ones instead of having to be replaced.
bluedec is developed in-house. As the manufacturer, we continue to refine the method ourselves and can tailor it to the demands of mission-critical environments, rather than being tied to the roadmap of a chip or codec vendor.
